we provided the music for the elle style awards 2013. this year’s theme was musicals, not an easy one for us! we did lots of research and heard heaps of music which was not up our alley, but at the end we found some gems and a cool way to work the theme.
the night is a contest for upcoming stylists. this year’s winner is pascal-joel weber, his styling theme was grunge and had to be based on jesus christ superstar and the sound of music. we have put his music online for you. we also added two mixes for the elle musical show part 1 and 2.

during the evening a ballet of around 40 dancers did two different shows, the choreography was by martin butler and it was just amazing. the music, styling and choreography intertwined the world of fashion with musicals, with great dancing on a huge staircase in part 1 and later on the runway in part 2.
the music in part 1 is sensual, vintage and edgy at the same time, mixing a nightclub-feeling with west side story. at the end the dancers led the audience into the room where all the action took place. we used a non-stop loop from the bassline from peggy lee’s fever adding only extra fingersnaps.

part 2 is an outrageous choreography party with nina simone as a key track singing a famous song from the musical hair. we added lots of well known, cool and ridiculous samples from musicals.
