on sunday january 29 at amsterdam fashion week we provided the music for an evening of flowers and fashion, organized by lm flower fashion, holland’s most exclusive flower traders. apart from sculptured dresses made from roses and orchids by artist pim van den akker, the evening presented two collections. the beautiful first collection, inspired by a rose, was by casablanca based designer said mahrouf. the music was romantic with an edge, we used francois hardy ‘mon amie la rose’ and combined the song with lots of modern french female singers and sebastien tellier’s la ritournelle. the second collection was by dutch designer dennis diem, inspired this time by an orchid. the vibe was chic in the amazon jungle, beautiful haute couture with dangerous high heels made from toucan skulls. we used yma sumac and mixed her inca high priestess voice with people like rita mitsouko and gotan project. the show was one of the absolute high lights of amsterdam fashion week. the last mix is now online for your listening pleasure.
