vietnamese haute couture designer to long-nam did a presentation last week in paris at art gallery joyce for over six hours. models posed throughout the space, like if they were frozen on a page in a book or magazine. the mix is inspired by the work and life of mr. yves saint laurent, his muse mme catherine deneuve and the work of mr. helmut newton. it’s about the love of haute couture, the love of beauty, elegance, quality and craftsmanship, but with a bite and a twist: it’s cold and distant. it’s like looking at emotions, not living the emotion. we used sounds by alva noto, music by sebastien tellier and mixed in the voices of catherine deneuve, yves saint laurent, his clients and atelier staff.

edits of this thirty minute sound-score were used in long-nam’s show during vogue italia’s who is on next in rome. our first cooperation with long-nam was a success, we are happy to be part of his great team.

there’s a video of the finale online here.
