can we do two memorable shows on none day? yes, we can. this thursday we rocked both sis by spijkers en spijkers and bas kosters studio, their shows at amsterdam fashion week were absolute highlights. spijkers en spijkers showed their successfull more affordable sis line for the second time. this season’s theme was female heroes from beginning 20st century, like amelia earhart, who crossed the atlantic by plane for the very first time. we mixed led zeppelin’s ‘whole lotta love’ and mutsumi’s ‘look down at your feet below’ with the sounds of race cars and aeroplanes, finale was the doors ‘love her madly’.
fashion’s enfant terrible koster’s did his very first show at aifw, and it was a blast. his collection was about mutants, cut up plants and animals sown together again, and as always very colourful with super prints. we mixed about 30 tracks and around 100 sound effects in a 12 minute show, from the theme of transformers to rare vintage acid house to german carnaval music to tacky italian disco, new tracks from the likes of tommie sunshine, sinichi osawa, riptide and drop the lime with the sounds of monkeys, opera soprano’s, donald duck, tigers, king kong and the woodpecker from outer space. we hope to be able to post both mixes soon.
